Keystone is a business for impact that accelerates nature-based solutions to protect the natural environment, improve local food systems and enhance rural communities.
We aim to promote sustainable, scalable practices within the agricultural sector through combining agroecology and climate smart technology.
Following Plan Vivo’s Accredited Framework, our economic, environmental and social mission directly contributes to achieving 13 of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
We partner with local NGO networks practicing agroecology with a focus on smallholder farmers and schools.
Smallholder farmers hold less than 2 hectares of land. They are largely threatened by climate change, droughts and soil erosion. We incentivise these farmers to plant indigenous and native species contributing to food security, conservation and carbon rights.
Rural African schools typically own workable land. There is a direct correlation between well-nourished children and the performance of schools. By establishing tree nurseries, seed banks, planting crops and trees, we enable children to attend school with regular, healthy meals.
The world is in a race to net-zero carbon. The food systems that feed us account for up to 37% of greenhouse gas emissions. By 2050, without intervention, they are set to increase by 30 - 40% as the global population hits 10 billion.
By harnessing the power of the 500m smallholder farmers worldwide, we can meet this demand sustainably, healing the soil and reversing climate change.
Together we help net-zero corporations reach their science-based targets by delivering high impact, accredited carbon credits.
